Yes, it is on this river, tho 4-7 mi upstream, that the urchin here and I were canoeing, and I was totally mystified as to what on earth Mek meant by Peerls -- he was studying the bottom as I toiled upstream, hoping to spot Peerls. Finally I realized he was after oysters, which contained peerls. Readingis a great way to learn, but it is NOT the best way to learn pronunciation.
