Canoing on the Genesee . . . er, Barge Canal . . . I mean, Red Creek!

We finally got around to renting a canoe from the Genesee Waterways center, and headed up the Genesee.

We then headed west on the Erie (neê Barge) Canal, then back to the Genesee, continuing south, then turned around and coasted back to the canal, heading east.

Much to our surprise, we came upon a small river I'd never even known was there, which the rental clerk told us later was Red Creek. It was a lot of fun to paddle gently up and down -- the Genesee, after the recent record-setting rains, had quite the strong current going!

We had a great time, and plan to do something similar soon -- perhaps on Canandaigua Lake, where the swimming is a bit less threatening!

Hey, we need a map showing the Red River...I mean Creek.

But nice to see Al being used for bettern beer/mtndoo cans. The view from the stern, midships in the foreground, then the bowoman, and on beyond, the moiling waters -- ah, brings back memories.

Just watch the wind direction if you do Canandoogey.

So refreshing to see those water/bridge/barge pix!, and sweet to see our friends!

Here's the Google Map of the confluence; the Red Creek delta is just a little ways to the south-east.
